The Art of the Flip Flop
Here we are, the weather is starting to turn for the better, trees are blooming and the days are longer. What does that mean? Get a pedicure and get some flip flops!
We here in Colorado are a flip flop loving nation. We will and do wear them year round if we can. I have spent many a rainy day and even a snow flurry or 2 in mine, trekking through, ignoring the cold just to kick them off when you get inside.
Now, I know they are not the best for your feet, back and posture. But I LOVE THEM! Every color, type and height. Especially those with a little bling, paired with my favorite baggy jeans and a fitted tee. My husband calls it my uniform in the summer, throw in a ball cap and I'm ready for anything a summer night brings me!
The hot trends this spring and summer are the striped "nautical " look flips in blue, white or red! Neon is back in force, give into the trend with a basic flip in bright orange or yellow when heading to the pool. Dress up your flips with a little height and some bling, the perfect pairing with a maxi dress and big tote!
get that pedi scheduled, scrub that winter blah off those tootsies and slide into your favorite flippys asap!
P.S. We have cute ones at Funky Finds Boutique arriving by April 29. Just Saying!

Maxis To The Max
Maxis To The Max!
I
love that maxi dresses and skirts are a never ending fad! They are my everyday
go-to for spring and summer!!
The best part is they’re flattering on everyone!!
By being so very simple, you can pretty much accessorize them with anything
(belts, scarves, jewelry, and even brooches)!
I tend to keep mine pretty
simple, a pair of flip flops, a tank, a flower in my hair, cute earrings, and a
chunky bracelet!
However you choose to wear these timeless classics, you just
know you’re stepping out in style!!
Come on by Funky Finds Boutique and check out all our maxis for everyone!

Fashion Don'ts: Season Mixing
With the changing of the seasons comes an increasing number of people who aren't quite sure how to dress for the weather. I get it! Living in Colorado, you learn to accept the changing weather & embrace the art of layering. Which occasionally leaves me wearing winter boots and a tank. Almost everyone makes fashion mistake number 2: Mixing your wardrobe from each season. Not ALL mixing is terrible.... a cardigan with a pair of dress shorts, for example, is definitely not frowned upon! However, a variety of seasonal mixes are definitely a fashion no-no:
- A skirt paired with Uggs may be the most absurd mix I've seen. It doesn't really make sense, you'll freeze your ass off but not your toes? If someone can explain this to me, that would be greatly appreciated.
- Another mix that is slightly concerning is ANY summer style with a beanie. I do not understand some men's obsession with beanies, enough so that they will wear them with a set of board shorts. You have like NO hair anyways, what are you trying to hide buddy?
- And last but NOT least is bulky sweaters paired with shorty shorts. This one can be mastered if done correctly, however, seeing a unicorn eating bacon is more likely.

When In Doubt, Dress Your Age
When In Doubt, Dress Your Age
We are in a culture of fashion turmoil right now. The images of what we should look like, what we should wear and how much it costs hits women like a brick daily. Coming from facebook. magazines, twitter, TV and anywhere we find media.
Just because Kim Kardashian is wearing a peplum top with a leather skirt, should you? Those of us that are in our mid-to-late- thirties are caught in the space between dressing too young or too old. Making the decisions to grab that hoodie or a pea coat really shouldn't be that hard.
I have a 12 yr old and she tells me if i am making a fashion faux-pas with my jeans or tops. I may feel young at heart, but my rear is telling a different story.
In a world of bling and sparkle, I am slowly moving away from my bling-butt jeans and sequined tops (ok I will still wear the tops on occasion). We do have choices out there for our age group ladies, sometimes we have to work hard to do so, but do not be afraid to try something on! Don't be married to a brand or a size, because i can guarantee that each brand is different and each size is too. Divorce those old ideas!
Comfortable can still be cool and functional, but take some time to figure that out. All hail the maxi skirts this spring, with flowy tops and beautiful jewelry! If someone told you maxi skirts are not comfortable, they are a liar and should not be trusted or a friend.
Also all hail the linen pant! Flexible, functional and so cute! Yes you can wear your flip flops or favorite flats with these perfect pants and pair it with anything from a tank to a light spring sweater in those corals and mints of spring.
Options abound, you just have to be open to finding it and TRYING it on!

Fashion Don'ts: Socks & Sandals
Spring is upon us, funky folks! It's cold, it's hot, it can be very confusing about what to wear on your toesies. No matter how confused you are, please, avoid fashion mistake numero uno: wearing socks and any form of sandals.
I'm not even really sure WHY this became a "thing". Various theories exist to explain this phenomena:
I'm not even really sure WHY this became a "thing". Various theories exist to explain this phenomena:
- The wearer's TV and Internet and phone was broken and they were unable to check the weather so they prepared for all contingencies.
- The wearer has gross furry toes. You know exactly the kind I'm talking about. The thing of horror movies.
- The wearer is too lazy to paint their toe nails (for women) and has thrown out every pair of shoes that covers their toes.
- The wearer has nasty smelly feet and thinks the socks will absorb the grotesque stench. NOTE: It is not working, get some odor eaters and cover those puppies up.
